AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. AmeriCorps is made up of three main programs: AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps VISTA, and AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps).

Members must be at least 17 years of age, who has received a high school diploma or its equivalent or agrees to obtain either; there is no upper age limit. Upon completion of the program, members are eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award equal to the maximum Pell Grant amount.

Serve Guam Commission awards AmeriCorps State grants to programs operating within Guam. The type of program that will work best for an organization depends on the needs and number of AmeriCorps members required, and the focus areas of service the organization decides to implement based on National Performance Measures.
